We commonly hear about analysis involving hair development in rats, mice and macaques. However, I’ve by no means examine scientists managing to succesfully develop human hair in pigs. Until now.

Hair Growth in Pigs from Human Dermal Papilla Cells

In April 2023, Epibiotech CEO Jong-Hyuk Sung co-wrote an interesting letter in Experimental Dermatology. It entails his workforce’s success in rising hair in pigs by way of the injection of human dermal papilla cells (hDPCs).

Note that Mr. Sung has revealed a number of important hair related studies for greater than a decade. In November 2022, I coated his extremely fascinating at-the-time new abstract paper on efficient cell remedy for hair regeneration. He even responded to some reader feedback in that put up.

Coming again to this newest paper, the conclusion was that intradermal hDPC injections in pigs elevated the hair follicle quantity, thickness and angiogenesis. Moreover, a single injection of hDPCs appears to be efficient and survives for greater than 3 months in scientific research.
